Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage is a systematic manipulation of the body's soft tissues. Direct effects of massage include increased local circulation of venous blood and lymph, stretching of muscle tissue, loosening and reducing adhesions and scar tissue, removal of metabolic wastes and by-products, and speeds up healing.
Indirect effects of massage are: increased circulation to muscles and internal organs, reducing blood pressure, and relaxing tense muscles.
Massage also affects our mental state. It helps to relieve fatigue, reduce anxiety and tension, promote relaxation, and ease the stressors of the day.
#1 Fear: Do I have to take off all my clothes? . . . NO!
The therapist will sit down with you on your first visit to determine your level of comfort.

The Greeks, Persians, and Chinese all practiced massage as a spiritual art. Its purpose is to promote functional improvement in the recipient's body.
Massage is a powerful tool used for recovery from fatigue and tension. Using massage as a preventative tool helps healthy people stay healthy.
Your body is nourished, cleaned, and maintained by the blood and lymph system. Blood, pumped by your heart, circulates oxygen and nutrients to your muscles, which convert them to energy. A by-product of this process is lactic acid, which is filtered out with other toxic wastes and is carried away by the lymph system.
If you overwork your muscles or don't work them enough, lactic acid builds up, muscles cramp and become sluggish. Then blood and lymph flow will decrease, and fatigue will set in. Rest can take care of this, but most of us never get the adequate rest we need. Massage can speed up recovery time, rejuvenate blood and lymph systems, and help to keep you healthy.

Foot Reflexology is a "pressure therapy" and involves applying focused pressure to certain known "reflex points" located in the foot which correspond to certain other areas in the body. Some of the recognized benefits from receiving a reflexology treatment include increased circulation, relaxation, and release of tensions. Other benefits include clearing of emotional debris, detoxification of organs, and rejuvenation of tired tissues and cells.
Since reflexology treats the whole person, not the symptoms of the disease, most people can benefit from the treatment. The therapy brings relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, and is suitable for all ages.
On your first visit there is a preliminary talk with the practitioner. The reflexology then begins to work on your feet, or hands if necessary, noting problem areas. There may be discomfort in some places, but it is fleeting. Treatment times may vary depending on your individual needs.
